BEA Questionnaire
The Barrington Education Association, or BEA, represents more than 700 teachers and educational professionals in Barrington 220. The majority of candidates regularly go through the BEA's questionnaire and interview process to seek an endorsement from the BEA, which endorses candidates it believes will be fair-minded and work well with teachers. This year, the BEA stated it would endorse candidates with integrity, teamwork, a heart for racial and social equity and a sense of service over self. I'm honored to have received one of four endorsements.
Click below to read my full answers to the BEA questionnaire, as submitted in late December 2020. This is exactly what I sent the BEA, with two pieces of personal information redacted. Please note that our campaign committee name has since changed to "Friends of Erin Chan Ding."
Families of 220 Questionnaire
"I think it would be extremely helpful to have some graphics and brief explanatory breakdowns of our district’s financial and budgetary processes available over digital media. It’d be helpful to couple this with regular town halls and Zoom sessions that focus on topics like taxes. Every resident of the district has an interest in maintaining our district’s fiscal health, which is reflected in property values and the quality of our kids’ education."

Daily Herald Ednorsements:
Chan Ding, Ficke-Bradford, Shackleton, Windon for Dist. 220 School Board
"Erin Chan Ding provides an enthusiastic, positive voice and a focus on equity and inclusiveness. A 39-year-old freelance journalist from South Barrington, she co-founded a racial justice ministry at Willow Creek Community Church, among other community involvement experiences. She was a Daily Herald college intern 21 years ago, which does not factor into our endorsement of her."
League of Women Voters -- Candidate Forum
The League of Women Voters of the Palatine Area, which includes coverage of District 220, hosted a candidates forum in partnership with the Barrington Area Library with 10 of the 11 candidates running for the Board of Education. We discussed priorities, equity, guns and more.
